BIOMETRIC VISA SYSTEM SET UP BY THE FRENCH EMBASSY IN ISLAMABAD

“The Consular Section of the French Embassy in Islamabad is pleased to announce to all visa applicants that a new secured visa procedure called “biometric system” will be progressively set up with effect from November 14, 2006 in the framework of European “Visa Information System” decided by the European Council on June 8, 2004. According to this new procedure, every visa applicant will have to come to the visa section of the French Embassy in Islamabad so that the Embassy should collect the biometric data (digital finger prints, digital photos).

The visa applications will be received as usual by FEDEX company, which will inform the visa applicants about their appointment date with the visa section of the French Embassy in Islamabad in order to get their digital finger prints and digital photos taken.

This new system, with very high technology, is applicable to all categories of visas throughout Pakistan. Il will represent undoubtedly an effort in terms of general security. The implementation of this system of vanguard is an additional element towards the strengthening of cooperation between France and Pakistan, two partner countries.

Eventually, the new biometric visas will contribute towards the significant improvement of the visa delivery conditions and the reception and clearance at borders.”

VISAS BIOMETRIQUES A L’AMBASSADE DE FRANCE A ISLAMABAD

La section consulaire de l’Ambassade de France à Islamabad a le plaisir d’annoncer aux demandeurs de visas qu’un nouveau système sécurisé de visas dits « biométriques » va être progressivement mis en place à compter du 14 novembre 2006, dans le cadre du projet européen « Système d’information visas » décidé par le Conseil Européen du 8 juin 2004. Cette nouvelle procédure implique que tout demandeur de visa devra impérativement se présenter à l’Ambassade pour que les empreintes biométriques (empreintes digitales, photographie numérique) soient relevées.

Les demandes de visas continueront à être gérées par l’Agence Fedex, qui informera les demandeurs de visas de leur date de convocation au service des visas de l’Ambassade de France à Islamabad afin d’y procéder à la prise d’empreintes et à la photographie.

Ce nouveau système, de très haute technologie, est applicable à toutes les catégories de visas, sur l’ensemble du territoire pakistanais. Il représentera indubitablement un gain en termes de sécurité générale. Le passage à ce système d’avant-garde est d’un élément supplémentaire du renforcement de la coopération entre la France et le Pakistan, pays partenaire.

A terme, le nouveau système de visas biométriques contribuera à une amélioration significative des conditions de délivrance des visas et d’accueil aux frontières.
