Al Mehrab Tibbi Imdad: un hôpital à Karachi pour les malades du cancer

Le Consulat Général de France a entrepris en 1999 de soutenir une organisation charitable qui avait pour but d’introduire pour la première fois au Pakistan un hôpital pour soins palliatifs réservés aux cancéreux.

Grâce à ce soutien, l’organisation Al-Mehrab Tibbi Imdad a pu ainsi acquérir un terrain et faire construire un hôpital de 25 lits en plein centre ville, inauguré en novembre 2006.

Le coût d’acquisition du terrain, le coût de la construction et les coûts de fonctionnement de cet hôpital sont supportés par des opérations de levée de fonds organisées par le consulat général de France.

A ce jour plus de 18 million de roupies (201,600 Euros) ont été ainsi recueillies et en 2007 la levée de fonds a permis de rassembler plus de 3,5 millions de roupies (39,200 Euros), permettant d’envisager une extension du projet.

Jusqu'à présent environ 5647 patients ont été hospitalisés et 3585 souffrants ont bénéficié du service de consultation externe.

Al Mehrab Tibbi Imdad: a hospital in Karachi for cancer patients

The Consul General of France in Karachi undertook in 1999 to help a charity organization whose mission was to introduce for the first time in Pakistan a hospital for palliative treatment for cancer patients.

Thanks to this help, the organization Al-Mehrab Tibbi Imdad was able to buy a piece of land and build a 25 bed hospital in the centre of the city, inaugurated in November 2006.

The cost of the piece of land, the construction expenses and the cost of functioning of this hospital were supported by fund raising operations organized by the Consulate General of France.

Until this day, more than 18 million of rupees (201 300 Euros) were collected and, in 2007, the fund raising operation allowed to obtain more than 3,5 million of rupees (39,200 Euros), which will help to consider an extension of this project.

Till date around 5647 patients have been hospitalised and 3585 have availed the out-patient facilities.
